What is GMAT?
The Graduate Management Admission Test or GMAT is taken by people who aspire to study business management (MBA). It lets the business schools evaluate your ability to analyse critical issues, solve problems logically and understand a written text. It evaluates your command over different subjects like algebra, geometry, arithmetic, data analysis and grammar.
How many sections does GMAT have?
GMAT has four sections:
1. Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA): 30 minutes
You will be given a paragraph containing an argument. In your response 'essay' you will have to critique the author's argument by analysing the evidence he has presented to prove his point. You will be marked on a score range of 0-6.
2. Integrated Reasoning: 30 minutes
You will have to answer 12 questions divided into Multi-Source Reasoning, Table Analysis, Two-part Analysis and Graphics Interpretation. The score range here is 0-8.
3. Quantitative: 62 minutes
In this section you will need to answer a total of 31 questions consisting of 16–19 Problem Solving questions and 14–15 Data Sufficiency questions. You will be receive scores in the range of 0-60.
4. Verbal: 65 minutes
You are required to answer a total of 36 questions including about 12 Reading Comprehension questions, 10 Critical Reasoning questions and 14 Sentence Correction questions. You will be scored on a range of 0-60.
