COMMUNICATIVE ENGLISH COURSE FOR PROFESSIONALS
[Duration: 16 Hours]
In the modern world the English language is the lingua franca. Therefore, to be a part of the global workforce, it is essential to have good knowledge of English. With companies engaged in cross country business relations, it is now even more important that working professionals achieve fluency in business communication.

The Spoken English course for professionals is aimed at covering vocabulary and phrases to be used in conversations, meetings, presentations, negotiations, correspondence and e-mails.

The course has been divided into the following sections:-
Topic 1:- Telephoning:   (i)  Preparing to make a call
                                     (ii)  Receiving a call
                                     (iii) Taking and leaving messages / complaints
                                     (iv) Going through the secretarial level
                                     (v)  Problem-solving over telephone

Topic 2:- Company visits: (i) Introducing a company and giving its history
                                       (ii)  A tour of the office
                                       (iii) Greetings on Arrival and Departure
                                       (iv) Business Activities including discussion of
                                        the current market and competition 

Topic 3:- Job information: (i) Knowing the qualifications required for a
                                         job and familiarity with the job profile
                                         (ii) Attending Induction Training and 
                                         understanding of job responsibilities
                                         (iii) Working conditions and financial 
                                         rewards
                                         (iv) Redundancy and Retirement
                                         (v)  Discussing a new appointment

Topic 4:- Presentations: (i) Planning and getting started
                                     (ii) Describing the content to create an 
                                      impression
                                     (iii) Holding the audience's attention
                                     (iv) Non-verbal Communication
                                     (v)  Linking ideas
                                     (vi) Sequencing
                                     (vii) Closing the presentation and handling the  
                                       questions that may follow

Topic 5:- Meetings:       (i)  Making the meeting effective by establishing 
                                     the purpose
                                    (ii)  Starting and asking for opinions
                                    (iii) Handling interruptions
                                    (iv) Asking for and giving clarifications
                                    (v)  Decision making process
                                    (vi) Ending the meeting

Topic 6:- E-mail writing: (i)  First contact
                                      (ii) Formal message - setting up a meeting, 
                                      accepting or declining an official invitation,
                                      confirming minutes of a meeting etc. 
                                 (iii) Making official announcements
                                      (iv) Giving general information
                                      (v)  Everyday matters

Topic 7:- Negotiations: (i) Type of negotiation and preparation
                                   (ii) Making an opening statement
                                   (iii) Bargaining and making concessions
                                   (iv) Accepting and Confirming
                                   (v)  Rejecting and dealing with conflict
                                   (vi) Ending the negotiation

Topic 8:- Going on a business trip: 
                              (i) Checking in for a flight or taking a train 
                              (ii) Hiring a car
                                   (iii) Booking and Checking-in to a hotel
                                   (iv) Cancellation of booking
                                   (v) Dealing with problems and updating time      
                                   and place of meeting 
Besides, focus will also be given on appropriate vocabulary and its applications.
